Another Kind of Magic
Another kind of magic..
There is another kind of magic. Found in the humdrum of everyday life shared with someone you love..
Fears and Triumphs
Sometimes I panic with the not knowing, the lack of answers or models, and that when it boils down to it,
I am creating my life.
And that is the scariest reality of them all.
And also the most exciting..
Honoring Women
Her:
"I am so ready to feel good in my body"
"I feel sensation in my body I thought would never return"
"This was beyond what I could have imagined."
"I am going to talk to my pussy all the time!"
"I have never said those things aloud"
"It was like you were my sister through a rite of passage"
"We (women) should be doing this all the time!"
More Spaces for Women
It felt so easy, so pure, so natural. Every person there said the same. Female bodied humans that have felt uncomfortable in co-ed spaces shared that it felt effortless and stress-less. Each person left feeling rejuvenated and their cup filled or overflowing with care, and the reaction was "more." More of these spaces, more of women's special medicine for the world, and more of this sensual, non-sexual intent, even with our male-bodied friends and loves.
This space, created for and by women, is not only good, but it is necessary.
A Lifetime in Two Minutes
To me, dance IS TANTRA....
It's that moment when you are listening so close to what is happening inside of you, that the space between the two of you becomes a universe in itself.
And the smallest micro movements transport you into the most beautiful sadness or the most profound ecstasy…
Erotic Freedom
Dance, singing, art- they are all practices that help us get in touch with our bodies and ourselves.
So are tantric practices...
But tantric practices (specifically more intimate/sexual ones) vs these other practices: Are like a torch vs a match. Or weight-lifting vs yoga. Or meditating on a busy street in NY vs a calming yoga studio.
Dance & Tantra
Dance just might be my favorite tantric practice.
For me, it's a practice of truly listening- The building of my desires- to move, to flow, to be. The inspiration of the music and what it stirs inside myself and another. The sensation of the lightest touch on my arm. The mini check-ins with the human moving beside me.
Pleasure is the Measure
"Pleasure is the measure of sexual wellbeing. NOT how often, or who with, or even how many orgasms you are having... It is whether or not you enjoy the se- you are having." -Emily Nagoski
This is why I love the tantric practice. It allows us to let go of goals/expectations, be open to finding pleasure in what is real in the moment, and teaches us transferable skills in bringing pleasure to all aspects of our lives, not just in the sexual.
