Another Kind of Magic

Another kind of magic..
There is another kind of magic.

Found in the humdrum of everyday life shared with someone you love..

Imagining what "might have been," in our fantasies,
You only see a few highlights.
Just out of frame...
Are a million ordinary
and sometimes awful
moments that also
would have been.
Moments less dazzling
but no less essential.
In our daydreams, No one breaks our hearts
or farts under the covers,
but those (among many other things)
are essential parts of sharing your life
with a whole person,
not just an idea.
Perhaps
all those might-have-beens aren't
as effortless as they appear.
And there's just as much magic here,..
It might just be harder to see.
